 Concerning word “groom”, it is the shortened version of the classic word “bridegroom”. Today “bride and groom” is more common than “bride and bridegroom”. Sometimes brides take more active role in wedding preparation than groom. So, some grooms may feel a little left out in the preparation of their wedding. The groom's responsibilities remain obscure and unclear. Let’s try to define them.

Sometimes it can turn out difficult to choose a best man for a wedding. Traditionally he is the groom's best friend; also his father or brother often occurs.

Choosing clothes for groom and his best man for the wedding is a responsibility of the groom. Possible variants vary greatly within different cultures. The groom can dress in just about anything from top hat and tails, a tuxedo, uniform, highland dress (a kilt) or even a designer suit. It is his choice depending on his tastes and money.

Usually, it is groom who organizes the transport for himself, his bride and the majority of the bridal party, to and from the wedding and on to the reception. A helpful recommendation for the groom is not to forget about needed wedding transport to the honeymoon/hotel for their first night as a married couple.
Honeymoon
As a groom is the future head of family, he organizes the honeymoon. He can speak of it with his future wife and then make a decision. Depending on work of both newly wedded, the groom may choose a place not far from home or on the other side of the world. If any of them are very busy at work in that time, it is a good chance to book a short weekend away and then have a second honeymoon later in the year.
Groom's Wedding Cake
Nowadays a couple tends to share the wedding cake. But there is a tradition to have separate wedding cakes for the bride and for the groom. The bride’s cake was considered the main. The groom had a very special cake. It was made of his favorite sponge and decorated with anything relating to his hobbies. The single girls could dream of the man they will marry, if they put a slice under their pillow (old British tradition).
